Fractions in Action
The new term began with Grade 5 students working on fractions. They were required to add and subtract fractions with similar and varying denominators. What better way to learn than with the assistance of M&M’s. Students teamed up to work out the fraction of each colour of M&M within each packet.

The activity was really fun and creative. It was something different than working from the book. It gave us a chance to work with our friends. The most part I enjoyed was decorating my work and to pick the flavours to eat.

The activity was really fun. I was surprised by how used the M&M’s to learn about fractions. The best part was eating the M&M’s.

2017 Sirius College School Fun – Run
On the 17th of August, we will be having our annual school Fun Run. The Fun Run will be held at Seabrook reserve during school hours.
The School Fun-Run is a healthy, fun and active fundraiser that ensures we send the right message to our students about getting active, having fun and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The main focus of this event is on participation. Family support is most appreciated as we encourage all students to get involved. All grade 2-6 students will be taking part in the Fun Run.
All students have received a Sponsorship Form to help collect sponsorship on behalf of the school. The funds raised will be used to purchase sporting equipment for the PE department and students.
We ask all parents to read the Sponsorship Form and sign the front page to grant permission for their child to fundraise and participate in this event. Students who raise just $10 or more will receive a prize for effort.
